Verifying EIGRP

Verifying EIGRP

Topology

For my home network i will be verifying that my EIGRP configuration is working correctly. The 10.0.0.2 is CHRONOS, 10.0.0.1 is HADES, and 172.16.0.2 is APHRODITE.

The EIGRP show commands will show very little detail as this network does not have redundant path ways. For a better view of how EIGRP works check my Basic EIGRP post.

CHRONOS

With the show ip route eigrp command we can verify what routes have been learned via EIGRP.

We can see that it has learnt of all the networks being advertised from HADES and APHRODITE. We should configure a summary address (summarise the .2, .3, and .99) on APHRODITE to make the routing table smaller.

The show ip eigrp neighbors command will show some usful information. It will show the Hold time (18sec), its EIGRP neighbor (10.0.0.1).

The command show ip eigrp topology will show topology table which contains all the passive routes that have been learned and will show the FD and the AD to a remote network.

show ip protocols will show us information about the AS numbers, k values, and load balancing.

We can check to make sure EIGRP Hellos are being sent with show debug eigrp packets.
