Ubuntu Desktop 13.10: Getting Wireshark to work

When you first open Wireshark you may get the following problem, where it can not find any interfaces to start capturing;

To fix this enter the following commands into a terminal;

sudo dpkg-reconfigure wireshark-common

Select Yes when prompted;

Then enter;

sudo usermod -a -G wireshark $USER

The next command will log you out, so save anything important;

gnome-session-quit --logout --no-prompt

When you log back in and load Wireshark, you should be able to start capturing;
